Concept build

Torque & Co., independent garage

Torque & Co. is a concept website we designed and built for a fictional independent garage. It treats transparency as the product: a brake assembly modelled entirely in code explodes into labelled parts as you scroll, prices are published up front, and a 'What's that noise?' checker turns five common symptoms into a plain-English diagnosis before you book.

The brief

Garages struggle with trust: customers can't see the work and fear surprise bills. The brief was to make transparency the product: clear prices, a plain-English diagnosis and proof of care.

What we built

A brake assembly modelled entirely in code that explodes into labelled parts as you scroll, an up-front price list, a 'What's that noise?' symptom checker and a booking form with a number-plate input.

1Build decisions

How it was made.

Modelled, not downloaded

The rotor, including 30 cross-drilled holes, is built procedurally from primitives and CSG-style subtraction at load time rather than loaded as a mesh. No GLB to ship, nothing to license, and the geometry can be re-parameterised for a different part without opening a 3D tool.

Scroll as the explanation

The exploded view is scrubbed by GSAP ScrollTrigger, so the reader controls the pace of the explanation. Each part labels itself as it separates. It is the one interaction on the site that is genuinely better in 3D than in a diagram, which is the bar we set before reaching for WebGL.

Prices on the page

Publishing a fixed price list is the whole argument of the site, and it is also the thing most garage websites hide behind a call. Putting it in plain server-rendered HTML means search engines and AI assistants can read it, which is the same reason Cygni publishes its own entry prices.
